It all started with a dream, a dream to collect all those pictures we see posted on social media of companies with funny or silly names. You know the classics, Jason Donervan, Barber Streisand, Alan Cartridge, etc.
At first, I thought a Twitter account would do the job, but that would mean I’d have to remember to post them frequently and it seemed like too much work. The next idea was to maybe build a webpage that displayed them, maybe showing a different one each day, set and forget, but that didn’t seem good enough.
As is normally the way with many of my projects, I sat on it for a number of years and forgot about it. Sometimes the idea remains just that.
Then earlier this year, I was flicking through my old notes and found it again. I gave it a bit of thought, and suddenly had an epiphany.
These companies have made the effort to stand out from the crowd and make us all laugh in the process, they deserve our business, there should be some sort of directory that, not only celebrates them but also allows potential customers to find them and give them some money. So I started putting everything together, then I thought I’d add this feature and that feature (remember when I thought a twitter account would be too much?), and before you know it, I’d created a monster.
So after hundreds of hours work (maybe, it certainly feels like it), cobbling the site together, collecting and documenting hundreds of businesses from across the globe, and sorting them into hundreds of categories, both you and I find ourselves here… Hi.
Have a look around, have a laugh, share if you want, but let’s show a little love to those companies that make a bit of an effort to make us smile, and give them some business.
